بما أن ليلة القرقيعان قد فقدت أهميتها ونسي الناس ما يُقال فيها من أهازيج فإنني آثرت أن أرسمها بهذه الطريقة لإحياء ذكراها

May God Keep their child in the Memory of the Qirqa'an (sweets and peanuts given to children in Ramadhan)

Because the night of Qirqa'an lost its charm, and people forgot its songs, I decided to draw it in such a way to commemorate it.

It represents some verse uttered by the late poet Fahd Bouresli about the water shortage in Kuwait. "They have no choice, The blindman had to wear his skirt, Holding his mother with his left hand, and the water tin with his right".

الطبق سرير الرضيع قديما

عندما يُولد الوليد لا يتكلف أهله بشراء سرير أو فرش له بل يؤتى بطبق المنزل (طبق واسع مصنوع من الألياف) ويفرش بأقمشة قديمة ثم يوضع به الطفل قرابة عشرة أيام بعدها يؤتى له بمنز أو كاروكة

The Container (The Cradle of the infant in the past)

When an infant was born, his parents did not buy a bed or a luxurious mattress to him or to her but they brought the house dish (a wide one made of fibre) and furbished it with old cloth and laid the infant in it for about ten days. Afterwards, they brought him a Manazz (a cradle made of palm leaves) or a Karouka (a cradle made of wood like a seesaw).

It was a famous game for girls in the past. They mimed in it the living conditions of their family inside the house.

The Gate of the Wall was closed by Night

Since the Gates of the Wall were the sole access to inside and outside the City, they were closed by night for safety and security reasons. The gate was only opened when one of the Known car owners knocked at it.
